How I Keep My Hair Healthy
So far all my blogs have been about hair dye, whether I like it or not, how it washed out and if I would use it again. I thought, since I'm posting about dying my hair, I should mention what I use to keep my hair from completley falling out.
A lot of hair dye leaved your hair dead, dry and breakable. My hair breaks off all the time and I am constantly covered in little bits of blue hair. But I have found products to help with that and things that help my hair feel soft and not so dead. So here I will be mentioning some of those products and what I think of them.
Firstly, Argan oil. This product is a miracle worker at times, if you get the right amount and a decent version. I have used Argan oil from poundland and sometimes it works wonders, other times it does nothing. Right now I am using the one pictures about as it has a little pump with it. I found that when I use the one without the pump I use too much and my hair becomes really greasy. The one with the pump is easier to use, just one or two pumps is enough to use on the ends of my hair without it feeling greasy. I usually use this after I have washed my hair and just before I dry it.
The shampoo and condtitioner I use are Pantene Breakage Defence. I have only just started using this and have noticed a huge difference. My hair feels so soft and silky, and I have had less breakage since using it. I usually leave the condtioner on for about 20 minutes, just to really let it sink in. I'm not sure if this actually helps, or if I'm doing it for no reason, but it seems to help a lot. The only issue I have is with the conditioner. It is very thick so I feel like I need to use more to cover my hair. Other than that, I use these every time I wash my hair.
When my hair gets really bad I use a deep conditioner. The one I use is L'Oreal Elvive Full Restore 5 Hair Mask. I usually leave this on for about half an hour and use it once a week if needed. I used to use this every time I washed my hair, but I couldn't afford to keep buying it every other week when I ran out. I love this hair mask, it leaves my hair so soft and I can barely feel or see the breaking in the ends of my hair. When my hair is fading I sometimes add a little bit of hair dye in with the mask and doing this doesn't change how the hair mask makes my hair feel, which is wonderful.
Lastly, this item is not like the others and one I have only, in the last week, found. The Tangle Teezer Detangling hair brush. Up until now I have been using cheap hair brushed I found in my local supermarkets and have noticed that so much of my hair falls out when I use them! I have heard people raving about this hair brush and never understood how using this would help my hair. It was only last week, when I had the money to buy one (they are about £6-£9 in asda) that I decided to give it a try. It is amazing, my hair stays on my head as this doesn't pull at it and I've noticed the breakage has been a lot less. It does scratch my head when I use it, but I can deal with that. My hair feels so soft when I use it and, unlike all my other brushes, there is no blue hair building up in the brush.
So these are just a few things I do to keep my hair healthy. I also use heat defense spray, but I mix it up a lot so didn't think I should include it. I know that there are a lot of great products out there, but I'm on a budget and these are the things I can afford. These products are affordable and available in most drugstores and supermarkets, but don't let the price fool you, these really work and have helped my hair so much.
